Abstract

Background: Biological warfare and bioterrorism is an old term, but it came into focus after the covid-19 outbreak in the last decade. Previously, many microorganisms have been used as bioweapons, such as anthrax in World War I and smallpox in World War II, which had caused substantial destruction. There is an ongoing debate about the coronavirus being a potential bioweapon. This article aims to dig deep and find some clues about the truth of the coronavirus.

Methodology: A precise literature search has been done using the keywords bio-agents, covid-19, bioterrorism, bio-crime, bio-accident on Google scholar and PubMed.

Results: History suggests that many disease causing agents like viruses and bacteria have been used in the past as bio-weapon. It is found out by a brief overview of the literature that Coronavirus could be used as a potential biological agent to conquer over enemies.

Conclusion: It is concluded that to prevent this bioterrorism threat, the authorities need to make an organization which checks laboratories developing and using such agents to harm mankind.
